Abaloparatide

Abaloparatide (PTHrP analogue)

An FDA-approved bone-building peptide analogue of parathyroid hormone-related protein for postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Overview

Abaloparatide is a synthetic analogue of parathyroid hormone-related protein, approved as Tymlos to build bone in postmenopausal women at high fracture risk. Like teriparatide it stimulates new bone formation with once-daily injection, and trials showed strong fracture reduction. It is an established, approved peptide drug.

Mechanism of action

Selectively activates the PTH1 receptor to favor bone formation over resorption, increasing bone density.
