Mazdutide
Mazdutide (GLP-1 / glucagon dual agonist)
Also known as: IBI362, LY3305677
An investigational GLP-1 and glucagon receptor dual agonist studied for obesity and type 2 diabetes, with advanced trials in China.
Overview
Mazdutide is an investigational once-weekly dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors, based on the natural dual-acting hormone oxyntomodulin. It has been studied for obesity and type 2 diabetes, with Phase 3 trials in China reporting substantial weight loss. It is not yet approved by the FDA. Update, September 2026: mazdutide was approved in China in June 2025 for obesity and in September 2025 for type 2 diabetes, the first GLP-1/glucagon dual agonist approved anywhere. It is not FDA-approved.
Mechanism of action
Agonizes GLP-1 and glucagon receptors to reduce appetite and improve glucose control while increasing energy expenditure.
