The first clinical drug from Retro Biosciences, the Sam Altman-backed longevity company: an oral, brain-penetrant molecule meant to restore cellular clean-up (autophagy) for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, in Phase 1 since December 2025.
Overview
RTR242 aims to restore lysosomal function so cells can clear the protein aggregates linked to neurodegeneration. Retro dosed the first participants in an Australian Phase 1 in December 2025, with dose escalation through 2026 and results targeted before an Alzheimer's Phase 2. No efficacy data exist yet, so interest is driven by the company's profile and the mechanism rather than results. It is unrelated to FLGR-242, a gray-market follistatin product with a similar-looking name.
