What BAM15 is
A mitochondrial uncoupler that reversed obesity and insulin resistance in mice with a wider safety margin than DNP, now sold as a supplement-style research chemical with no human data.
BAM15 lets protons leak across the inner mitochondrial membrane so cells burn fuel as heat. In mice it reduced fat without reducing food intake and improved glucose control, and in fruit flies it extended lifespan.
Mechanism: Protonophoric uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation, increasing energy expenditure without ATP-dependent signaling.
