What RTR242 is
The first clinical drug from Retro Biosciences, the Sam Altman-backed longevity company: an oral, brain-penetrant molecule meant to restore cellular clean-up (autophagy) for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, in Phase 1 since December 2025.
RTR242 aims to restore lysosomal function so cells can clear the protein aggregates linked to neurodegeneration. Retro dosed the first participants in an Australian Phase 1 in December 2025, with dose escalation through 2026 and results targeted before an Alzheimer's Phase 2.
Mechanism: Enhances autophagy and lysosomal clearance to reduce accumulation of misfolded proteins in neurons.
