A Salk Institute fisetin derivative described as a 'geroneuroprotector' that improved memory and reduced brain lipid damage in mouse models of Alzheimer's; still in animal toxicology, yet already sold as a research chemical.
CMS-121 was engineered to be more potent and brain-penetrant than fisetin. In mouse Alzheimer's models it preserved cognition and reduced lipid peroxidation, acting in part through fatty acid synthase.
Mechanism: Inhibits fatty acid synthase and lipid peroxidation, reducing neuroinflammation and preserving neuronal energy metabolism in aging brain.
